Course Notes

The CompTIA Security+ Certification is a premium industry certification and as such is not easy to obtain. The student will be required to devote significant additional time to outside study if their objective is to pass the Security+ exam. Also the Security+ exam includes a significant emphasis on basic networking knowledge and skills. The exam site specifies the following as recommended experience necessary to pass the exam, "CompTIA Network+ and two years of experience in IT administration with a security focus". We have found that this knowledge can be acquired by the student engaging in self-study of the Network+ curriculum. This curriculum is widely available or can be provided by CertPros Training.

It is recommended that the student have the following skills and knowledge prior to starting the course.

  • Know the function and basic features of the components of a PC.

  • Operate the Linux OS using basic command-line tools.
